Disney Cruise Line: The Ships!

So you want to take a Disney Cruise (awesome!)…How do you know which ship to sail on?

Currently, Disney has 4 beautiful ships in their fleet. Hare are a few ways to help narrow down your selections and choose the perfect ship for your family.

Disney has 2 “Classic” ships – Disney Magic and Disney Wonder. These are the 2 original ships, they are on the smaller side, compared to the Mega Ships that are available on other cruise lines. Each ship can accommodate approximately 2,700 guests. The word “classic” is perfect, as these ships are filled with charm and elegance.

Disney’s 2 newer ships are the “Dream” ships – Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. They are significantly larger than their little sisters, and can accommodate approximately 4,000 guests. These beautiful ships offer similar charm and elegance, with some newer enhancements not available on the original ships.

Choosing your ship is often decided by the itinerary that you choose to sail.

Disney Magic spends the winter in the Caribbean, and the summer in Europe. You may find some East Coast sailings in the Fall and Spring, and she offers 2 transatlantic sailings per year.

Disney Wonder was built for Alaska! She spends the winter in the Caribbean, and the summer in Alaska. You may find some select sailings from the West Coast, including Hawaii, and Galveston, Texas.

Disney Dream was built for the Bahamas! She spends all year long alternating between 3 and 4 night Bahamian itineraries. Each sailing will include a day at Disney’s Private Island, Castaway Cay.

Disney Fantasy was built for the Caribbean! She spends all year long alternating between 7 night Western and 7 night Eastern Caribbean itineraries. Similar to the Disney Dream, each sailing will include a day at Disney’s Private Island, Castaway Cay.
